Major Lang is a native of Kandiyohi County MN. He attended School in the Willmar School District and Graduated from Willmar High School. He entered the MN Army National Guard in 2002.

MAJ Lang began his military career in the fall of 2002 after enlisting in the MN national Guard. He attended basic training at Ft. Sill Ok, and Officer Candidate School at Ft. Meade SD and Ft. Lewis WA, commissioning as a second lieutenant in September of 2003. He attended Initial Entry Rotary Wing training (flight school), during 2004. MAJ Lang became qualified in the UH-60 Blackhawk during the summer of 2005. In the spring of 2007, he spent 18 months deployed with the 2-147th Assault Helicopter Battalion in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. He was stationed in Balad, Iraq. During the deployment he served as a battle captain and flight company platoon leader, returning to MN in the fall of 2008. Again, in the Spring of 2014, MAJ Lang spent 16 months deployed with the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and later Operation Inherent Resolve. He was stationed in Udarri, Kuwait, Baghdad, Iraq, and later Taji, Iraq, returning in May of 2015.

Lang has served in a variety of rolls in the years of his service, to include; Flight Company Platoon Leader, Maintenance Company Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battle Captain, AVIM Company Commander, Battalion S-4 (Logistics), Brigade S-3 Plans Officer, Brigade S-4, Airfield Commander, and currently serves as the Garrison Commander at Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS).

MAJ Lang is a qualified UH-60 A/L Blackhawk Pilot in command. He is a qualified Air Mission Commander, is certified in Night Vision Goggle operations, sling load operations, hoist operations, water bucket operations. He was served on several state active duty operations, to include flood fight missions, wild fire missions, and local civil requirements.

He is a graduate of; IERW (flight school), Aviation Officer Basic Course, SERE (Survival evasion, resistance, escape) school, UH-60 Qualification Course, Unit Movement Officer Course, Aviation Captains career Course, commander’s safety course, Aviation Officers command course, Aviation Maintenance Officer course, UH-60 Test Pilot Course, Captains Career Course, Joint Firepower Course, Joint Air operations command and control course, and is currently enrolled in ILE education course.

MAJ Lang holds a degree in Engineering, and a degree in Aviation Science and Management. He is currently employed by North Memorial Air Care and fly’s Air Ambulance out of Redwood Falls, MN. MAJ Lang is a lifelong resident of MN and has lived in Olivia, MN for the past nubmer of years. Andrew and his wife Susie have two young sons, Elliot, and Jonas.
